freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges, or beliefs. This state of mind is not common, but it is essential for right thinking

Being objectively open-minded does not simply consist of being able to see a situation from the other side, but also being to see it from all other possible angles, without any bias towards your own. This is difficult, because our biases and judgments comprise our comfort zone, but to remove ourselves from them is extremely liberating and rewarding.
